22oz bottle, cap pryed off into my favourite wide flute. Body is a gorgeous if slightly foggy deep copper, going yellow around the edges. Head is thin and ivory, leaving a surprisingly nice lace.

Smell is big, fat, and rich. Could have fooled me for a barleywine of twice the malt bill and a year of age. Sweet caramel and blood orange zest bright pine needles, maybe a touch of thyme. Can't get enough of that candied-fruit malt.

Taste is a little bit of a disappointment. The all the sweetness fades away in an instant, ending up quite dry and a touch bitter. Unsweet iced tea. Tiny, tiny bit of chile. Dark german bread. Good, honest hop bitterness, all fruity in nature. Maybe a little bit of cedar smoke at the very, very end.

Feels really quite odd on the tongue. Slippery and sticky on the lips, but powdery and drying on the throat after the sip. Only that gorgeous nose is enough to keep you going for more.

The appearance of this beer is a Thick dark amber color with little transparency. Had a 1 finger white head which reduced to a thin layer of foam, Lacing is webbed all the way down the glass.
The aroma of the beer is musky pine with hints of citrus, very little sweetness from the malts.
The taste is full and quick, The pine sits on the tongue and the citrus is minimal but still there. once you swallow the taste is gone and makes you go back for more.
The feel of the beer is smooth and medium bodied. No warmth of alcohol at all. Just a SMOOTH beer.
Great beer I will get this beer again, and soon. The one thing that stuck out besides the musky pine aroma which i loved was the smoothness of the beer. The bottle says "Red Ale and a red IPA" I was expecting a thicker IPA but this beer is very well balanced with a good mouth feel. If you havent tried this, I would strongly recommend this... Thanks for reading , CHEERS!!

Poured from the 22oz bottle into a pint glass. Body is a rather cloudy reddish brown color, topped by a small amount of slightly creamy head. Aroma of sweet, bready caaramel malt and a mild fruity note from the hops.
Palate is big on caramel malt, with big notes of bread and mild dark fruit. A touch of hoppy bitterness comes through before the swallow, leading to a well-balanced finish. Body is creamy and smooth, and is probably the nicest thing about this beer. This isn't particularlly subtle, and there's quite a bit of yeast at the bottom of the bottle that requires a careful pour. Not the best option on a crowded beer shelf.

Pours a finger and half of head on a hazy dark straw body.
The aroma is deep, dark grain, copper and forest.
The taste is moderately bitter, a big malt profile but not sweet.
The texture is thicker.
A big malty and hoppy beer, and quite drinkable.

1 Pint, 6ozs brown bottle with a very cool label ... it's two rainbows coming out of a pot of gold!

Appearance: Hazy, unfiltered, dark orange/copper beer with a patchy cream off-white foam head that clings to the sides of the glass...nice lacing :~)

Smell: Very pronounced citric hop aromas, spicy with background sweet malts and a faint bready grain aroma.

Taste: Hmmmm...The 'A' and the 'S' don't match the 'T' for this beer... There is some good hoppy moments, but the sour ending notes kill this one!

Mouthfeel is fair, not much carbination, creamy with a malty/medium-body. The initial taste is a nice malt/hop combo on the palateA spicy, stinging and salty plethora of citric nuances come throught...Unfortunately a sour 'back-drop' takes over for the remainder...

Notes: This is an OK beer...I liked the name and label better than the beer itself...so that's never a good sign :~(

Beautiful amber appearance. Not a major head of foam on this one. Smells of northwest hops, a very enjoyable part of the experience of drinking this beer. Upfront, very smooth, pleasant taste of citrus hops and hints of caramel. The finish is really offensive; a very unusual bitterness that I am not really familiar with. This beer has some balance but it comes out in a weird way. Not a lot of carbonation. For the style, it definitely works. This is a really weird beer. I love the aroma and look, and I like the bottle and packaging a lot. The experience of drinking such a fun experiment was also very enjoyable, as I was really in the mood for something new and different. This definitely fits that description; It's an unusual brew!

From a can into a tulip glass: OK you nailed the color- deep red mahogany. Mostly toasty malt on the nose. Taste follows- caramel and toast initially with the hops kicking in later. Good amount of carbonation for the style. An excellent well balanced beer!

A bold wiff of hops as you open the bottle mellowing to a pleasantly mild aroma, bold flavor balancing hops with earthy malts. A very pleasant drink. I applaud Iron horse's unwillingness to be forced into tightly defined types and definitions and stretching the boundaries of flavor and style in the micro brewing community! cheers.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark reddish orange, quite ruddy and with a fine two finger light khaki head with good retention and lots of lacing. Classic red ale aroma profile, with lightly caramel malt, mixed fruit, piney and dank hops, citrus. Flavor is lightly caramel, and somewhat bready malt, citrus and piney hops, citrus and mixed fruit, great orange citrus and lingering lightly resinous hops bitterness. Nice mouth feel with a light creaminess. This is a great red ale, hoppier than traditional (but it claims to be a hoppy one), but with a spot on malt base with good fruit flavors. There is a mildly estery, vaguely orange citrus flavor that hits just before the hoppy finish that I found to be very satisfying. Iron Horse often surprises me and this is another of their ales I wish I'd tried sooner. A well made and flavorful hoppy red ale.

This is my favorite brew from Iron Horse. Great feel, smooth body. Had a couple of these and grilled some burgers with my gf and our friends. Goes well with a crisp, late winter evening in WA. (:
