After 4 years of brewing, Iron Horse finally opened a taproom at their brewery. Good idea. Though they've displaced their office and eliminated their homebrew supply store, the notion of drinking Iron Horse at the source was worth the sacrifice. Beer quality is generally very good and prices at the taproom favor a visit.
Iron Horse beers tend towards clean, full-bodied, contemporary designs, and their central location near the hop-growing center of the universe assures close contact with material sources. All indications are that the brewery is trending upwards and may soon exceed their 15-bbl, five-fermenter capacity. Rumors of an expansion, a brewpub, and a relocation closer to town are actively fermenting.
Finding the brewery is a bit challenging the first time so make use of an online mapping resource or check their website. It is located at the cul-de-sac of a sequestered industrial site next to the Ellensburg Distillery and a biodiesel company. The tasting room itself couldn't be much simpler. The tiny, single room has scant amenities - not even running water - and there would seem to be as much space devoted to T-shirts and schwag as to seating. Six taps fill pints and growlers of house standards and seasonals. Amazingly, the venue hosts live music on Tuesdays.

As a resident of Ellensburg I've been here many times. Its not a bad place to get a beer,it's clean, the prices are reasonable, the service is good, the staff is friendly the beer from the brewery is pretty good even if you don't get the greatest amount of choices, and they have popcorn which is always nice. However the place is spartan, small, and very cramped. If it is busy god help you with trying to find a place to sit because it will not happen. This is by far its biggest downside. Overall it's not a bad place to go if you just want a beer from Iron Horse otherwise go somewhere else, because there isn't much else here.

I stopped at the brewery while traveling through Ellensburg.
It's a tap room at best. Calling it a brewpuib is an insult to brewpubs everywhere. If you built a plywood bar with 8 stools in your garage, that is what this place is like.
Atmosphere is industrial.
Quality is OK Iron Horse brews
Service was OK A cute blonde pouring pints. She might have been the best part of the place.
Selection was actually poor. They had 6 taps, but they brew 9 beers, so something is missing. On a warm day in August it was the IPA. Unforgivable!
Food: N/A Popcorn and a coin-op almond dispenser is it.
Value was OK. $3.50 a pint and $3.50 a bomber to go. I didn't buy any to go, because they didn't have the IPA in bottles either. I had tried everything else.
My suggestion would be to stop at this place (if you must) and look at the list of places (just inside the door) that have Iron Horse brews on tap, then go to one of those places. I went to the Roadhouse in Ellensburg
and had beer and wings. They had the IPA.
