If you want to go out and have a world-class beer, Deland isn't the place to do it. However, if you want more than just Bud, Miller, and Coors, the Blind Pig is a pretty decent place to visit.

The atmosphere is pretty standard for a local pub - not a trashy local bar, but more of a hometown pub feel. Tons and tons of beer posters, sadly for beers they don't sell. I think these are just leftovers from a time when the Blind Pig actually had a pretty awesome beer selection. Big wooden bar seats about 15, and some tables probably seat another 30 or so. This place isn't very big, but it can fit alot more people than it seems on a busy night!

As for the beers, they've got about 15-20 taps, mostly macros. The only thing I saw on my last visit that seemed interesting was Avery White Rascal. However, this was the only draft beer they were out of. They used to at least have Tucher on tap, but that was missing on my most recent visit. They do have a bottle list, if you ask for it, and it's not bad. Some Samuel Smith, Sierra Nevada (only the Stout this last time, no SNPA, WTF?), Unibroue, and some other pretty good ones. Widely available, but missing were Rogue, DFH, and any Belgians.

Service at Blind Pig is one aspect I cannot complain about. Every time I've visited the service has been attentive, prompt, and friendly. No glassware, however - my girlfriend's Trois Pistoles came with a pint glass, and they have you pour it.

Overall, the Blind Pig is fairly average, but I still make a point to stop in every time I'm in Deland. Compared to most places in Volusia County, the Pig is a great pub, but on the grand scale, it may disappoint. I will note as well, that the selection of beers has declined noticeably over the last 4-5 years, with the removal of the Tucher tap as the most recent example of this trend. The Blind Pig Pub has a long history, so I hope the trend does not continue.
