The flagship brew that kicked off our whole beer-as-a-charity movement, FINNEGANS Irish Ale is a full-flavored, medium-bodied ale with a caramelly, malty finish. While most beers provide temporary bliss, FINNEGANS Irish Ale fills your soul with deep-rooted goodness. It’s charitably delicious, making it good in every sense of the word.

Pours clear copper colored with a cream-colored head that leaves spotty lacing. Aroma is caramel roasted malt, corn, some earthy hops. Flavor follows the nose, sweet up front with just enough hops in the finish to balance it out. Feel is light and adequately carbonated. Overall, decent but not thrilling.

Pours crystal clear and medium amber. Foamy/frothy head. Decent retention. Okay lacing.

Caramel malts, faint grass and modest floral aromas.

Toasty caramel malt sweetness on the tip of the tongue, along with a hint of adjunct corn sweetness. The sweetness increases in midstream to near molasses quality where some peppery spicy notes arrive, before the brew turns the corner in favor of some modest earthy and grassy hopping. Not quite enough hopping.

The brew is medium light and about as crisp an amber as I've had.

World-beater? No. It skews sweet, more from the absence of sufficient hops than heavy-handed malts. But as close to "crushable" as an amber can be. A solid, yeomanlike offering.

Clear amber, Lingering gossamer head. Malty, but slightly less body and taste depth than other Irish ales. Good clean finish. Quality ale, but maybe not enough to lure back to this pub in the pouring rain. A fair weather ale.

Pours a nice amber/caramel colour with a thin head that lingers. First taste is malty and caramel with some mild hops bitterness toward the finish; almost tastes like limestone water was used, has a dry finish. Excellent.

Had on tap. Orangey amber clear body with no head. Aromas are basic to style: caramel, bready malt, and some grains. Taste is very macro because amongst the caramel and malt is corn sweetness and macro beer malty booziness. Feel breaks down into macro finish in a hurry, showing booziness. At least profits go to a good cause!

Poured from 12oz can into glass. No canning date information found. Now labeled as 'Finnegans Irish Ale'.
Clear, deep gold colored body. One and a half finger white head upon pouring, which stays around as thin cap and ring. Leaves behind some strings of lacing.
Aroma of malt and caramel, with a little floral hops.
Taste is malt and caramel, and a sweetness similar to green apple.
Smooth, medium mouth feel. Good carbonation.
Easy to drink, slightly sweet ale, that can be a good choice for a session beer.

I tried this beer at The Depot in Faribault, MN. It poured a clear amber with no head and no lace. The scent had faint caramel malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a decent beer.
