This local, brewed & bottled by Summit Brewing (a wonderful semi-micro MN brewery) makes the claim of being "possibly the most socially-conscious beer in America." Visit http://www.finnegans.org, see their list of fine works & donations, and judge for yourself. I'd love to love a beer like this, so I'll try not to let it influence my evaluation. That said, I'm not generally a huge fan of the "amber" style, which I find to be a little on the sweet side and to have too little a range. This one is of that typical "amber" color, with a weakish little head - nothing too exciting there. Trying also not to let their "brewed with potatoes" note on the label influencing me, I seem to detect that flavor in an overtone. Very dry mouthfeel. Yes sweet, though somewhat unexpectedly - and welcomely - bitter. With a toasty, clean finish and an aftertaste I can only describe as "not off-putting dirt."
