I was in town a few weeks ago on business, and had a few hours to kill before heading to Fort Wayne. I'd done a bit of advance recon to figure out where I wanted to go, but knew very little about the brewery so that I wouldn't have preconceived notions.

It was a Sunday afternoon, and I drove from the Indy airport through the beautiful Broad Ripple area. When I arrived, the place was nearly empty. Pulling up to the bar, I realized why - the Colts were playing at home - they were all at sports bars, the stadium, or at home, watching. While this is not a great place for a crowd to watch a game, it was exactly what I was looking for - small, seclued, and with a TV to casually watch a game.

The bar was about five seats wide, with two attentive barkeeps ready to make recommendations, and talk about the game.

Reviewing the menu, my eyes immediately found the veal and pork meatloaf sandwich - coupled with a mound of pommes frites, which can be paired with any number of dipping sauces - it was suggested that I choose the roasted garlic aioli and the sherry vinegar/sea salt. Good choices - made for an outstanding meal. One of the most satisfying I've had in quite a while.

With the in-house choices scribbled on a chalk board adjacent to the bar, they had a few different beers on tap, and I chose the Tripel and then the Bad Kitty - both well-rounded and pretty tasty.

After spending nearly two hours at the bar, chatting with the 'keeps and other patrons, I'd finally had my fill. I parted with a pint glass (the collection now numbers more than 50 from breweries around the country), and lasting memories of a really enjoyable afternoon.

Highly recommended, and I'll definitely be back the next time through Indy.

Odd spot. Doors downstairs were all locked, directions to use "north" door... which was apparently upstairs? Then after ordering a flight I attempted to sit at a table - all of which were empty - and was lectured that this was "table service" and that I was apparently infringing on someones service area. OK. I just wanted to sit in the sun. Beer selection is small but what I tried was solid quality. I didn't sample the food but it looked decent.

This is probably the most disappointing place I have ever been to. I love Tripel de Ripple but all of the other offerings were horrible. The mood inside was very somber and depressing. The beers for Outlier were as bad as anything I have ever had.

About 5 or 6 years ago, someone sent me a Triple de Ripple in a trade. Ever since then, I wanted to visit this particular spot, since the beer was quite nice. Decor is really quite nice, beautiful and quaint. Lots of attention to detail and a very clean and mature kind of place. Service was very nice. Since I was there for lunch I basically had the bar to myself. I talked a good bit with the owners and they are very nice people. Beer was good, although they had more beer from their second brewery, Outliers, than they did for BB. Two guest beers also. I wouldn't have minded a wider selection on the Belgian edge, but there was still plenty to have. Overall a very worthy stop and a visit I have been wanting to make for quite some time now.

I love this place. I actually think the mussels And fries are better here than in Brugge Belgium!

Some great food options- stick with mussels though. One great beer on tap- Pooka. Delicious. Everything else can be hit or miss.
