Appearance - Beautiful, thick caramel head with fair retention. Black body with only the faintest glimmer of ruby light visible when held up to a lightsource.
Smell - Brown sugar, caramel, and wood.
Taste - Slight sweetness behind a hard to indentify, complex taste. I want to say something woody, but that doesn't seem to be describing it right.
Mouthfeel - Creamy, medium bodied. Slightly metallic aftertaste, but barely noticable. Could just be residual effects from the (possibly) bad bottle I had of Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale immediately beforehand.
Drinkability - A little too flavorful to be a session, but easy enough to finish a full bottle without feeling overloaded.
