Poured from a bottle into a snifter at around 45 degrees Fahrenheit

Appearance: Just about black with little to no tent when put up to the light. A frothy one finger tan head with a ton of lacing.

Smell: Right out the fridge I get a tart, almost wine-like aroma with hints of toffee and chocolate. But as it warms the chocolate and toffee come out more with more of a dark fruit undertone

Taste: Sweet dark fruits upfront with a unsweetened bakers chocolate finish and a hint of toffee

Mouthfeel: Heavy light to light medium body but extremely smooth; One of the smoothest beers I've had, in fact. A moderately dry finish

Overall: After having their imperial stout, I had high expectations, and they were met for the most part. Maybe a little lighter than I prefer, but hey, I'm an American spoiled on American beers. The flavors and aromas were balanced quite nicely however, and as my pallet has progressed, I've come to appreciate balance more. Not to offend anyone, but the dark fruit notes soley, remind me of Yuengling porter but turned up a few notches. The unsweetened bakers chocolate balances those notes well. This makes me want to give Fullers another try as I wasn't quite fond of it a while back. Maybe I have a soft spot for English beers after all. Only time will tell. For the meantime, this was another enjoyable offering from what is so far my favorite English brewery. Cheers!

From a bottle to a pint glass.

A: pitch black with two fingers of thick kaki foam. Moderate lace on the glass as the head fades.

S: lots of coffee with some malts and smoke in the back ground.

T: follows the smell well with coffee and toffee flavors and a hint of malts.

M: medium to heavy with lasting flavor. Easy drinking.

O: everything that was said about this beer was right. Worth the wait and satisfying till the last sip. Try it!

Pours a nice clear deep chocolate brown with a thin layer of white head. Great retention, looks fantastic after the pour.

Smells like a great light/medium roasted coffee with some hints of cocoa and smoke. Some sweetness is present with tinges of nuts.

Tastes follows up on the nose with an addition of extra flavour. coffee, cocoa and the presence of nuts is reminiscent of amaretto. Lots of flavours perfectly mixed.

Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Very smooth and a bit slick on the tongue while remaining refreshing.

Quite an impressive porter, complex with great flavour and nose. It's a bit thin for my personal taste but that won't stop me from hopefully having it again!
