Poured from a 550ml bottle into a tall glass. Color was a deep, burnt caramel brown with a half inch foamy head. Nearly opaque. Very pretty.
Smelled of malt and hops, with maybe a touch of grape scent. I must admit I have trouble picking out diverse smells, but the overall aroma was good.
Taste: sweet at first, reminded me of sugared coffee, malt, and molasses. Moist and slightly bitter, but with an unpleasant sour aftertaste. Consistency was thin. Quite filling, much like a stout.
This is the first English porter I've tried, and I can't say I was terribly impressed. The bottle may have been off a bit, as there was a decidedly sour aftertaste that may not be typical. All in all not a terrible beer; I wouldn't decline it if free, but can find better brews for $3. I would like to try it on tap to see if the sour flavor remains or if I simply had bad luck.

Pours a nice clear deep chocolate brown with a thin layer of white head. Great retention, looks fantastic after the pour.
Smells like a great light/medium roasted coffee with some hints of cocoa and smoke. Some sweetness is present with tinges of nuts.
Tastes follows up on the nose with an addition of extra flavour. coffee, cocoa and the presence of nuts is reminiscent of amaretto. Lots of flavours perfectly mixed.
Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Very smooth and a bit slick on the tongue while remaining refreshing.
Quite an impressive porter, complex with great flavour and nose. It's a bit thin for my personal taste but that won't stop me from hopefully having it again!
