appearance - Poured into a goblet, porter is at about 45 degrees fahrenheit. Beautiful creamy tan head, about a half inch high with larger c02 bubbles that lingers. Very nice lacing. Color is deep brown almost black all but around the rim of the glass. Impressive!

smell - Aroma is very pleasant. Dark cocoa, dark sweet fruits, roasted malts, and somewhat yeasty.

taste - Cocoa with dark fruit prominent flavors. What a nice combination. Sweetness subsides to wonderful roasted malts and cocoa finish. Very well crafted and balanced I say. Finish is not dry or bitter, but smooth. Hops are pretty well hidden. Roasted malt and cocoa linger in the aftertaste.

mouthfeel - Smooth and creamy. A nice amount of c02 for my liking. Not to much but just right. Somewhat chewy but yet has the thinner properties at the same time, which allows you to fully taste the ingredients, unmasked. I like the balance here.

overall - I was blown away by this porter. It is my first brew from Samuel Smith and I am a believer, looking forward to their oatmeal stout. I will definitely pick up more of these. I paid $4 for this 550ml bottle and to me that is a steal. Truly an amazing porter. World class. I might get another tonight!

Appearance: Pours a deep dark as night color with a frothy creamy light caramel color head that sticks around decently. The simple sight of this porter is down right incredible for porter lovers.

Aroma: Burnt hop notes that hit hard along with the sweetness from the dark roasted malts. It has this wonderful aroma of cognac.

Taste: A silky mouthfeel that graces the taste buds ever so gently. Such remarkable espresso notes and the sweetness from the malts balances the flavor out so nicely with the slightest hints of bitterness from the dark roasted hops.

Notes: This is such a perfect porter. It has got to be the best porter I have ever had. The balance between the malts and the hops is heavenly. Do I dare give this art work all fives oh yes come hell or high water this gets fives across the board.Cheers

Of all the finest beers of all the lands the Taddy Porter ranks near the top of the list. The beutiful black color with just a hint of ruby held to the light, The granite nose and finish, with a biscutty maltiness underneth. Roasty, Chocolatey, hints of coffee it's all here. With a deceptively light body. and ever deepening levels of malt, this is everything beer should be.
