Pours dark molasses in color with a decent amount of tan foam that settles into a thin veil. Aroma smells like Hershey's syrup or hot cocoa. Taste is similar to the nose, with plenty of milk chocolate, lactose, and some caramel. Some faint hop character comes through in the finish but is otherwise there purely for balance, but to an extent that does not quite offset the malty sweetness. Some of that distinctive Sam Smith's acetaldehyde character lurks beneath the surface as well, but is not as noticeable as it is in some of their other offerings. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side for my tastes, but it's not too bad. Overall this is a tasty and drinkable sweet stout, though not exceptional.
