I've tried this beer in several ways now: At a tasting, in a beer float, and finally by itself.
Appearance: It has a lot of small bubbles and poured with a thick head. A smaller head remained well after pouring. It was very hard for light to penetrate through it but regardless, I could tell the beer was mostly clear. The foam at the top was a light beige.
Aroma: Right away I could smell the roasted malt followed by vanilla and dark chocolate. Smell was on the stronger side and there was a slight hop smell in the background.
Flavor: If you want a chocolate beer, this is the beer to be drinking. It's sweet, but not like sugary sweet it's like dark chocolate sweet, especially in the nose. At the back of the throat through the finish hops can be detected as well as the roasted-ness. It also had nutty notes and kind of reminded me of sweet tarts at some point.
Mouthfeel: This is where the beer is lacking. I like my stouts to be really thick and I felt it was on the thin side. The amount of bubbles I could feel was nice, but it made me crave more hoppiness or bitterness.
Overall: This beer is awesome... BUT! Personally, the lack of bitter and hop characteristics set it back for me. Because of that, I feel it was a little off balance. It also left me wanting a thicker body and an overall stronger flavor.
