Notes/Commercial Description:
Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard water is drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic chocolate malt and real organic cocoa used in this ale impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is the perfect marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate that will lead to smiles and refills. Samuel Smith's brews in traditional coppers, uses stone 'Yorkshire Squares' for fermentation, and ships every bottle from the brewery with great pride.

Great beer. Totally Hershey's milk chocolate in a bottle. Smell is strong chocolate, and body leaves a nice taste of chocolate on the pallet. Definitely an enjoyable beer for the once and a while drink. I would not consider this an every day drinker, but definitely something to change things up once and a while. Overall, great brew.

Poured from a 550ml bottle into a tulip glass coded bottled date. This pours a pitch black color with a mid sized tan head which has a decent retention. The smells are somewhat sweet, a little chocolate, milk sugars, a little dark roasted malts. The feel is medium to thick. The taste is more sweet than I was expecting, lots of chocolate, milk sugar sweetness, a little bit of bitterness.

I really enjoy Samuel Smith beers, so was excited to pick up one of these to try.

The beer appears black with a thick, dense foamy head. A mouth watering appearance, really. Chocolate hits the nose right away. Sweet milk chocolate, chocolate milk, roast chocolate milk shake. You get the idea. Perhaps the beer is one dimensional to some degree, but damn, this is tasty. Light to medium in body. Creamy smooth feel on the palate. A must try for those who enjoy chocolate and beer. A beautiful marriage of the two. Impressive.

I had this bottle poured in a pilsner type glass at my local bar. The Organic Chocolate was part of a beer incentive program.

The nose and flavor on this beer is a chocolate bomb. This is a chocolate lovers dream. I would say that this is more like an alcohol chocolate drink than a beer.

Overall I enjoyed this beer. It was smoothe, well balanced, and pretty tasty. I would drink more of this beer, and I recommend going out to pick some up.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a standard pint glass.
Dark brown/black in color, with a big cloud deck of tan, oatmeal-like foam.
Aroma-Cocoa powder, dark malt
Taste-Chocolate milk, cocoa, vanilla notes, subtle roasted malt, very faint mineral bite in the finish keeps it fom being overly sweet. Very pleasant on the palate: smooth, creamy and very flavorfull. Would be an excellent match for a slice of German chocolate cake or a handfull of homemade choclate chip cookies. Or, just by itself. Highly recommended.
