Notes/Commercial Description:
Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard water is drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic chocolate malt and real organic cocoa used in this ale impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is the perfect marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate that will lead to smiles and refills. Samuel Smith's brews in traditional coppers, uses stone 'Yorkshire Squares' for fermentation, and ships every bottle from the brewery with great pride.

Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout, with Theobroma Cacao. 5% ABV

A: A finger's head, which is... Antique White, I guess. Medium brown with red tone at the bottom of the glass. Dark brown, with red tint shooting up the center. Good, solid lacing.

S: Plenty of dark cocoa flavor. Faint, sweet licorice. Sweet, creamer-like notes.

T/MF: Lightly roasted coffee. Touch of dark cocoa. Slightly sweet. Nice tingle from light carbonation.

Pretty good.

Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle, into a Petrus chalice.

This is the first "dessert beer I've ever had.

Right from the get go, chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate yet not overwhelming.

Poured in a clear pint glass the colour was dark brown to black with a creamy chocolate malt coloured head.

The nose is a blend of dark chocolate and cacao.

The taste is amazing. Dark chocolate, a nice balance of malts, nice hints of caramel.

Mouthfeel is round and balanced

This stout can easily be a great ending to a meal.

A - pours a near black with a finger of fluffy near white head, surprising light head, strong lacing, OK retention.

S - chocolate and sweet granulated sugar.

T - pure sweet chocolate, like good chocolate milk

M - really light bodied, superbly drinkable

If you like chocolate, this is the beverage for you. Easily the most chocolate beer I've had (tonight) and it really is quite good. One can skip dessert and have this instead (as long as you don't let you don't...I repeat DON'T feed it to your kids (they'll say it tastes like a bad chocolate milkshake (they're wrong and you shouldn't have had them))) It's organic so it's good for the environment. I can even taste the O-zone repairing itself.

in short, this beer is QXQX approved, Al Gore recommended.
