The atmosphere wasn't flashy, but it worked. There's a nice bar area on the main floor, seating upstairs and an outdoor area that overlooks something of an overgrown pool. It sounds funny, but somehow they pull it off (there used to be a hot-tub place next door). I'd call it cozy. Somehow the way it's off the beaten path makes for a better atmosphere in this instance.

The beer was quite good. I had an ESB that was spot on and a very drinkable IPA that was served on a Nitro tap.

Service was great. The bartender really knew her beers, gave honest opinions, and was around for refills as often as possible. It started to get busy by the time we left, so she wasn't around as often as I may have liked, but it looked as if she was the only one working and she did a fine job.

Selection was quite good for a brewpub. There was a wide range of styles including seasonal selections.

Food wasn't really available on site. I more than appreciated the free popcorn and you're allowed to bring in outside food or order delivery from other restaurants. That's a pretty nice policy in my book.

Value was good. Full pints were under $4.00 during happy hour. I was able to enjoy a few while still coming out under 10 bucks for the evening.

This scoring shouldn't discourage people from attending as I feel Hideout is a great stop in Grand Rapids.

A-Very divey...it's built in an old hot tub rental warehouse. Kind of still smells like chlorine. Have fun loft with shuffleboard and vintage video games systems. I believe they have open mic and performers sometimes.

Q-Beers are great tasting but have to assume they're using flavor additives in the majority (with offerings like Root Beer Stout, Tutti Frutti Cream Ale, Coconut Almond Brown, etc.).

S- They usually have 25-35 different beers on tap with a few solid nitro offerings. Their taps rotate over pretty quickly as they seem to have a half dozen new brews on tap every week. You can almost be assured to stumble upon a style that you've never seen before. I've had Hot Dog beer, Bacon Stouts, etc.

F-Free popcorn a limited menu of mainly reheated, frozen bar food like nachos, bosco sticks, etc.

V-A little bit pricier than you'd expect for the quality. Pints start at $4.25 for mainstays and then go up to $6 for specialties.

O-Like I said, give it a shot and you won't be disappointed. Need to work a little bit on consistency but it's a fun little dive brewery and is usually always quiet.

Atmosphere: very cool place. small and quaint but a nice upstairs area and a killer outdoor patio. horse shoes, cards, cribbage. every night has a theme such as retro video games, new beer, live music. very relaxed and fun place

Quality: i tried 7 of their beers and like them all and some were even great. they had some different beers but everything was well done

Service: the bartenders were helpful, and nice. they didn't miss a beat

Selection: they had a wide variety of styles and levels of beer. there is something here for everyone

Overall: great little spot that is quite hidden. they don't get a lot of notice but their beer is closer to the level of founders than any other grand rapids brewer
