First time at Franklin's and something inside me told me to try this instead of the amber ale. Incredibly glad I did; this is one of my favorite local brews for sure.

Pours a dark, murky copper, with basically no head. Smells mostly of bready malts. Tastes mostly of biscuity sweet malts, almost caramel-like, with a smaller bite of hops at the end of a sip. Reminds me almost of a Vienna Lager, which is one of my favorite styles. Great mouthfeel and medium body; had another one to pair with my Franklin's pizza. Overall I think this is fantastic and one of the most pleasant beer surprises I've had thus far in my short drinking life.

Poured in a pint glass. Pours red orange with little head. Smells of dark roasted grain. Tastes of dark grain with slight hop bite, nice balance. Beer is heavily carbonated but light bodied. Overall, an above average beer.

On tap at Franklin's.

Pours a medium amber color with a good off-white head and some light lacing. The nose brings forward some citrus and floral hops with some bready malt in the background. Flavor is malty with some hops. Slightly-dry finish after a light-medium body.

From 3/13/10 notes. Poured from a growler into a pint glass.

a - Poured a murky amber color with no head or carbonation evident.

s - Smells of citrusy hops and some subdued pale malts.

t - Bland malts and some citrus hops. Not that great.

m - Smooth, medium body, and low carbonation.

d - Ok, but would prefer to try something else next time I have a beer from Franklins.

From the brewer, "Twisted Turtle Pale Ale- This English-style pale ale is a Franklins favorite, with Crystal and Pale Ale malts and Magnum and East Kent Goldings Hops. 6.5% A.B.V."

This beer is hazy and amber in color, no head. What few bubbles are present only form at the interface between the glass and the beer. Carbonation is low to non-existent. There is no lacing.

This beer has a really mild hop aroma and no malt at all.

Beer has a medium body and some bitterness in the back. There is some surprising malt sweetness in there as well. Drinkability high, mouthfeel good.

A - Cludy brown with a medium head and small flecks of lacing.

S - Some slight nutty carmel malt, a bit of faint appls and some vaguely herbal hop aromas.

T - A slightly nutty malt with a bit of faint grassy hops and mild apple too. The aftertaste is lightly bitter with a bit of lingering nuttiness.

M - Smooth, in spite of the high carbonation, a tad frothy, very refreshing.

D - Good, this is very eay to drink and wash down the delicious food avaiable at Franklin's with ease.

This was one of our two favorite beers at the brewpub.

Poured a copper dark amber with a decent head that was off white to beige.

Light nose with some hops and fruit and a grainy whiff there as well.

Taste was pleasantly hoppy to begin and then a stronf upsurge of plenty of juicyfruit flavors reminiscent of Gumballhead from Victory Brewing. A final fading of the fruit and an aftertaste of bitter hops and chewy grain. Quite pleasant.

Mouthfeel was a little grainy, but carbonation was good.

I could session this- not sticky, but the chewiness means I'd have to give up eventually, I believe.

This is a nitrogenated version of Franklin's Twisted Turtle Pale Ale, served at Franklin's in Hyattsville, MD. The ale is served in a tumbler.

Appearance: The beer is a deep ruby red with a nice creamy looking head that lasts.

Smell: The nitro head adds a pleasant soft aroma to the ale. Behind that, there are low-key hop aromas that do no dominate and malts tha provide a biscuitiness.

Taste: The cask-conditioning adds a brilliant sweetness to the ale that enhances the generous malt character and balancing hops. Very well done (then again, it is almost impossible to make a cask-conditioned ale go wrong).

Mouthfeel: Very sweet and crisp on the palate, the biscuitiness makes this a meal in and of itself.

Drinkability: Very high on the drinkabilitiy, although I am curious to try this in a regular draught.
