On tap at Frankin's.

Pours a light yellow with a good white head and a bit of lacing. The nose brings forward quite a bit of grain and malt. A bit too malty for the style. Faint hops. Flavor is along the same lines as the nose. There's simply too much malt character for a delicate style like kolsch. Light-medium body with a slight chewiness. Decent enough, but needs to be thinned out with less overt malt character.

Tried a small sample of this to see if I wanted to go for a good Kolsch.

Simple straw yellow and pale, with a classic white collar. Pretty straightforward looks alright.

Bouquet is actually pretty good, with a nice mild toasted bread, and biscuit like malt, this looks like it has potential.

Taste though is anything but expected on the nose. Very soapy and perfumy, a little bit of bready malt but quite stinky soapy. Feel is about right and basic but a real odd taste, kind of also "dull".

Overall I would have to pass on this one for a Kolsch.

From 06/18/11 notes. Had on tap at Franklin's.

a - Pours a clear yellow-golden color with one inch of white head and light carbonation evident.

s - Smells if bread, wheat, and grain; kind of bland.

t - Tastes of grain and bread again. Not bad at all, but kind of bland and average.

m - Light body and moderate carbonation.

o - Overall a pretty average beer. I nejoyed most of the beers I tried at Franklins but this was one of the weakest. Wouldn't order it again considering some of the other things they have on tap.

Shocking another misclassified beer on BA. Currently classified as a blonde ale (makes sense since its called a blonde) but from the brewer "Bombshell Blonde- Our lightest offering, this Kolsch style ale is brewed with just a touch of wheat and Tettnanger hops. 4% A.B.V." Sounds like they think its a Kolsch, who knew.

Beer on draft. Beer is cloudy and yellow, minimal head, clings to glass. Some lacing is left behind.

Almost no aroma at all.

Beer is thin and finishes cleanly, not much flavor at all, a mild malt backbone and perhaps some wheat character in there. An aftertaste creeps up on you as you drink. Drinkability is high but this beer is rather simple. Not a repeat.

Not an overly flavorful beer but a great session beer.

When you take into account the style of the brew it is very well done. With that said this style of brew is not one that lends itself to creativity. It isn't the kind of beer that you relish and study.

It's the kind of beer that goes well with barbeque. (which happens to be delightful at Franklins)

A -Very cloudy yellow brew, thin layer of head. No lacing.

S - Sour milk and artifially sweeted green tea. Yuck. I hate artificial sweetener smells/

T - A bland Turkey Hill diet green tea flavor (watered down) with some of the sourness from spoiled milk. This actually tastes as bad as it smells. A mild lemon flavor is present, but subdued. The aftertaste is bland and like the aftertaste of spoiled milk with a touch of honey. This tastes absolutely awful.

M - Mild, smooth, thin a little refreshing, but the taste is so revolting that it negates any refreshment.

D - Awful! The only awful beer Franklin's has. No one with me could drink more than two sips (except for me who bit the bullet to give a full review - even I couldn't do more than about ten sips though!). Easily one of the worst beers have ever had. Between sips I had to cleanse my palate with anything else.
