A: Pitch black with nice thickness and coffee head.
S: Strong nutmeg, allspice, cloves, coriander, and other pumpkin pie spices. Nice roasted malt undercurrent wraps it up in a warming package.
T: Wow. Thick roasted malts and leather with pumpkin pie spices, allspice and nutmeg shining strong and spicy above the strong roasted character. I would've expected two strong tastes to not pair well with each other, or one to mask the other (as most pumpkin stouts and ales are in general masked by the flavor of the yeast/malts in the ale itself), but these two pair beautifully to create an incredible beer.
M: Wonderfully thick and creamy.
D: Very, very impressed by this beer, and how well Franklin's has done to make two otherwise disparate flavors work in harmony with each other. Truly a beer worthy of mention in the annals of beer-dom.

On tap at Franklin's. Served in a shaker pint and shared with Amyliz4.
Pours a dark brown color with a good head and lacing. Nose carries some roast and slight stout character with some faint pumpkin spice in the background. The flavor falls along the same lines. Well done but nothing popping. Medium body and good spicing and dryness to the finish. Well made.

This is kind of a hybrid style between winter warmer, American stout, and pumpkin ale, since the brewer calls this beer "Pumpkin Pie Stout" I decided to classify it as a pumpkin beer. Beer served on nitro at the brewpub.
Beer is black with a nice head of tiny bubbles that leaves a ton of lacing on the glass.
Aroma is allspice and roasty with nice coffee and mild cinnamon.
Beer is medium in body with a creamy mouthfeel. The pumpkin is lost to me in this beer but the spices are pretty forward. Strong allspice and nutmeg with hints of cinnamon with the late flavors of coffee and roastiness. Tastes pretty good but if you call something pumpkin I feel it should jump off the palate and scream pumpkin, but this is a common problem with most pumpkin beers. Just no follow through.

Appearance: Pretty standard for a stout. Dark, almost black with hints of brown.
Smell: Spice. Nutmeg, Cinnamon, though not much pumpkin. Also hints of coffee.
Taste: For a "pumpkin pie", it was a little dry. I was expecting more sweetness. Still, plenty of spice and roast.
Mouthfeel: Thick like a stout should be.
Overall: If I hadn't already had twenty other pumpkin stouts this season, it might stand out. This is not a destination beer. Like I said in the taste area, I really was expecting more sweetness. If you're going to call it "pie", make it taste like pie, otherwise it's just another seasonal beer.
It's not a bad beer by any means. It paired really well with my hamburger from the brewpub and I'd drink it again, but it definitely wouldn't be on top of my list of things to try again unless they reworked the recipe a little, since there are so many other things the pub offers.
