Notes/Commercial Description:
Brewed traditionally in Munich for the annual Oktoberfest, this brew is a Bavarian style beer made to celebrate the fall harvest. Oktoberfestbier is a fresh dark golden beer, similar to the Mardi Gras Festbier, and has a light malty finish.

12oz Brown bottle with pry-off cap

Appearance: Pours a hazy copper with little head despite a rigorous pour

Smell: Slight malt very weak

Taste: Theres a some malt but the flavor reminds me of a blonde lager with some biscuit notes but theres too much complexity without being interesting enough for my tastes

Mouthfeel: Medium body and good for the style

Overall: Im not sure what direction they wanted, either a lighter amber lager or a complex malty oktoberfest; it doesn't do either very well but has components of both. My suggestions either provide some more balance malt and hops or lighten up the finish

Covington Fest Bier has a thick, egg-shell-colored head, a mostly clear, bubbly, amber appearance, and practically no lacing left on the glass. The aroma is strong- pungent, sweet bread and the slightest touch of bitterness. Taste is of brown bread crust, a touch of water, and mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, and Covington Fest Bier finishes crisp, easy drinking, and refreshing.

A 12 ounce bottle from optimator13 (thanks!) with a twist-off cap (that I unknowingly pried off with an opener) poured into a pint glass...

It pours a hazy copper/tangerine color with about a centimeter of fluffy, pure-white head. The head dissipates quickly and nearly entirely, barely leaving a ring of bubbles around the surface of the liquid.

The aroma is of a faint yeast, german malt and hops, some strange fruit (apple, pear), and various grains (wheat, straw, hay). The strange fruit sensation was unsuspected and, given a more dominant scent, I would suspect infection.

It tastes of german malts, faint hops, ample grains (wheat, hay, straw), some faint yeast, and a bit of the fruit character. Again, the fruity apple seems strange here.

Mouthfeel is crisp, smooth, and amply carbonated. Nothing outstanding, but certainly nothing wrong here.

Overall, a decent attempt at an oktoberfest/marzen. Certainly not the best on the market, but not off-putting or unpalatable by any means. Some might call it an average beer, but it's one I'm surely happy to have tried.

Thanks to optimator13 for this! It is not the Mardi Gras version...

A- Golden orange color with an inch of fluffy off white head. Settles quickly to a ring around the glass, very bubbly looking.

S- A little vegetative with a chalky bubblegum presence. Some light citrus on the back end. Light aroma and overall it seems off, I'm not a fan.

T/M- Watery, very very light flavor. What flavor is there, is a white bread taste followed by acetylaldehyde. Blah, just not pleasing. Body is light with bubbly carbonation, but almost non existent on the palate.

O- One of my least favorite beers. I love a good oktoberfest, which I think this is supposed to be (not positive due to the whole 2 versions of the same beer thing) but this was just shitty. Bland and watery. I would prefer Miller to this beer i'm saddened to say...
