11.5oz bottle poured into a shaped pint glass.
Péché Mortel poured black with a small tan head that quickly dissipated. There was a decent amount of lace in the beginning; however, the glass finished clear.
The smell and taste were wonderful, dominated by coffee flavors without the bitterness and a trace of dark, but again not bitter, chocolate. The feel was super creamy with nothing remotely unpleasant left on the tongue. The high alcohol content left warmth that perfectly complimented the creamy feel.
Péché Mortel is the perfect after-dinner drink, but also enjoyable on a hot lazy afternoon. It was a great experience that would appeal to non-beer drinkers as well as beer advocates. Very very nice.

11.5oz bottle poured into a snifter. 6 and 1 notched on the label of this twist off bottle.
A: Pours a very dark brown appearing pitch black in the glass. A mild khaki tan head sits on top, dissipating in a couple minutes.
S: Initially there is a nice dose of coffee that blends very well with a roasted malt quality. Dark fruit qualities come out more as it warms along with a touch of smokiness.
T: A beer with flavor that builds on you. At first I get a slightly bitter coffee, then a blend of dark fruit comes through. The aftertaste lingers with a great roastiness for a solid 2 minutes after each sip.
M: Very smooth beer. Creamy mouthfeel that slides like velvet over your tongue. Doesn't even seem like an alcoholic beverage. Remarkable.
Overall I am stunned with the complexity yet harmony of this beer. Coffee is just enough to add without overwhelming, hops compliment the coffee and the roastiness just works period.
