Pours deep, opaque brown, and produces about a finger of extremely persistent tan head.
Coffee and roasted malt really define the smell, with some bitter chocolate notes lingering in the background.
The flavors open with the big roastiness and coffee apparent in the smell. There is just a hint of chocolate, and then beer finishes quite dry, dark, and bitter.
Smooth and a bit creamy, this beer has a very nice mouthfeel, and well concealed alcohol. Impressively drinkable.
