Peche Mortel, the beer geeks wet dream. I doubt I'll be able to do this any sort of justice because it's probably out of my league at this point, but here we go:
Dark. Very dark. The little tan head that was there in the beginning is long gone. There is no lacing either. Just a dark liquid with fine carbonation remains.
The smell is strong coffee & dark chocolate. The taste is also very strong .. coffee... sweet roasted malts.. and bitter dark chocolate towards the end. But it's all got an amplification factor of 10. I don't know how it's possible to pack that much intensity into a liquid and it still taste good. Initially the alcohol is quite noticeable but it's less so towards the end.
Mouthfeel is great.. silky smooth but drinkability for this style is average.. no one is pounding these back.
