Pours black with some ruby brown highlights and a cappuccino colored ring for a head. Gnarly lacing as it goes down.
Smells of peat and coffee dominate; very earthy.
Taste is outstanding. A perfect balance of coffee and chocolate malt with neither being dominant or overly pronounced. This is superbly balanced. A pleasure to taste.
Feels smooth and creamy in the mouth with just enough carbonation to remind you that it is, in fact, a beer. The body is thick and just a little bit on the syrupy side.
Drinkability? I will have no trouble at all finishing this one but this is a one and done; a night-ender if there ever was one.
I will buy this one again and again as I see it in the store in singles for myself or one for every two people at a tasting.
