Sampled along with other fine beers at the 5/5/08 Tampa BA Gathering. Pours opaque with a thin ring of foam and medium retention. Nose displays huge coffee/espresso with a little chocolate and hop bitterness in the background. The flavor is surprisingly smooth. Bitter chocolate, coffee, and a little light cocoa sweetness blend very nicely. High carbonation and some clean bitterness flushes the palate with each sip and makes you want more. Paired very nicely with some sharp and rich bleu cheese on the table.
Overall, I'm usually not real big on beers that have lots of coffee flavor, but this one is done very nicely. In fact, probably the best I've had. Highly recommend.
