Poured into an imperial pint. Nice and dark, you could have fooled me into thinking it was Peche Mortel. Good foam but no lacing.
Definite cocoa in the aroma, along with the requisite roastiness. Smells nicely rich for a lower-ABV stout.
Taste is roasty and dry, with the cocoa and vanilla coming out more in the finish and aftertaste, I find. Bitterness is relatively high, coming from both the intense roast and earthy hops. It's nothing you've never tasted before, but it is very well done as is typical of Dieu de Ciel.
It could stand to be creamier in the feel, I think.
Excellent flavor, low-ish ABV and dryness makes for an easy drinker. Would have no problems putting away a couple by themselves or with a meal. Solid stout.

Dark brown to black colour with a creamy coffee head, showing quite strong lacing. Smell has vanilla bean, cocoa, roasty malts, some licorice, a bit of a lemon cleaner note as well. Taste is bittersweet, with lots of chocolate, mixed with vanilla and lemon, licorice, fairly nice actually, the vanilla didn't steal the show, it was a bit sweet but still refreshing. Body was moderate, smooth carbonation with a dry noticeably vanilla finish. I was worried this would be too muc a dessert beer, and tho it certainly leans that way it also has the balance and complexity to be a nice solid stout, worth trying if you see it. Very interesting mix of complex flavours, another winner from this outstanding brewery, well constructed with a nice bittersweet combo.
