Poured from bottle into porter glass.

pitch pitch black, a bit of dark chocolate brown reflecting in the stem of the glass. 2 finger coca-cola head which dissipates moderately quick to almost nothing, but incredible lacing, huge rings in the back, but tons of consistent spots on the drinking side.

N: Cocoa and vanilla beans are showing their faces, rich espresso is also very present. Behind it are some sweet, but roast, toasted bread, malts.

T: Mild and delicious. Quite chocolatey at first, double double coffee hitting hard on the aftertaste, with a sweetened coffee bitterness, but not very bitter at all. Well balanced.

M: Not a very thick stout, a little chewy, and nice smooth carbonation. Goes down real well. Cant feel any alcohol.

O: A rather sessionable stout, id maybe go for a second if i had one! I think ill pick this up again. Its a real go-to stout like the st ambroise oatmeal stout, however this is better.

i've had this beer both at the brewpub on tap and in bottles. i will be reviewing the on-tap version, as it is the freshest i have had this beer.

pours a jet black with creamy brown head. looks almost like a cream ale.

smells of roasted malts, vanilla, milk chocolate, and bitter chocolate. kind of reminiscent of chocolate milk. really nice balance of bitter/sweet notes.

tastes of chocolate (milk/dark), vanilla, sweet and roasty malts with caramel malts. really great interplay between sweet/bitter flavors - probably leaning on the sweeter side of things. full and creamy mouthfeel on this one.

overall, great stout from a great brewery.

I've had a few stouts and this is one of the best I've ever had. If you add a shot of a good port it would make for a good "Bloody Aphrodisiaque." I'm still debating whether it would make a good Aphrodisiaque float (with a scoop of vanilla ice cream), but I don't see why not since it already has vanilla in it. High five to the brewery :)
