Appearance - A rigorous mort - er - vigorous pour into a Unibroue tulip looks dark brown, holding it to the light reveals a nice blood red color. Some floaties there. A beige head ends up as a ring and swirly cap, bits of lace left.

Smell - Plum, raisin, brown sugary caramel malts, spicy Belgian yeast, apple, baked bread, alcohol. Pretty typical quad aromas, though it's not as remarkable as the Belgian standards it's nice.

Taste - Increased alcohol phenols and spice notes of black pepper and clove mingle nicely with the sweet and fruity yeasts, though seem to overpower the nuances from the scent. A little bit a of wine feel throughout.

Mouthfeel - Smooth and full mouthfeel, nice medium-low carbonation, alcohol warmth as expected for the style but comes off as a little deterring.

Overall - A pretty good quad, though the spiciness and alcohol heat detract a little bit, not as complex as I'd hoped.

11.5 oz. bottle poured into a Burley Oak glass

A: A beautiful amber brown and a light tan collar.
S: Lots of raisin and overly ripe bananas.
T: Quite the quad. You can definitely taste those esters and the Belgian candi. Lots of ripe banana and raisins. It definitely tends a bit more towards their style name of: Abbey-style brown ale. I can definitely taste the brown ale in this. It is a bit nutty.
M: The lightest carbonation that is extremely fuzzy. Like a room temperature Sprite that was just opened. So many bubbles, that the liquid portion is almost covered up.
O: Just a delicious quad. Interesting and with a great name. Not sure what the ABT stands for.

Aroma of caramel. Pours cloudy brown with minimal head. Heavy sweet flavours. Full bodied with slightly sticky texture, average carbonation. Overall a nice strong beer, if a bit on the sweet side.

From the 12 ounce bottle into an oversized wine glass.

A- thin khaki-colored head that dissipates quickly leaving scattered lace above the body. Body is thick-looking and caramel-colored.

S- heavy plum and Belgian candy syrup. Caramel and burnt sugar.

T- Continued plum, huge really, with a finish that is cherry-like. There's a slight estery yeast flavor and hints of the candy syrup.

M- incredibly easy-drinking and smooth. No alcohol presence.

A great representation with big flavors but still mellow and enjoyable.
