Reviewed awhile back.

A- A fine tight off white colored head atop a hazed honey apricot body. Retention and lacing are very good.

S- Lots of sweet caramel biscuity malt, pine and citrus. Fairly strong aroma and the booziness burns the nostrils a bit.

T- A wierd mix of pine, citrus, herbal and spicy hops with a huge malt backbone to it. Mild bitterness lingering in the finish. Somewhat boozy too.

M- This is a beefy DIPA, but the carbonation really eases this one down without becoming to heavy.

O- It's a bit to sweet for my liking and it's kind of a mix between a west coast DIPA and an English IPA, which was tiresome at the end. "Different" would sum this one up best for me.

12oz bottle in Sam Adams glass
bottled 4/14
purchased at La Duchesse in Quebec City

A: Very orange with a little bit of haze from a not so careful pour, thin off-white head with very little lace.
S: Not a lot going on, just a hint of hops, very surprised given what seems to be a massive amount of late hops that so little appears in the nose.
T: Orange, tangerine, candied citrus, no bitterness at all, just a lot of hop flavor combined with some caramel sweetness. An odd hint of spice that makes me think Belgian yeast, but it is very subtle, not unpleasant.
M: Crisp, yet mouthfilling/tongue coating. Easy to drink
O: A very dangerous beer, if you told me this was a 6% beer I would try to finish the six-pack, absolutely no sign of the 9% alcohol level. I wish I had bought more, highly recommended.

A: An bronze almost orange color. Rather hazy once sediment reaches the glass. Moderate lacing with decent retention.

S: Hoppy but balanced smelling. I get pine. Alcohol is also somewhat noticeable.

T: Hops are the first thing that come through but are equally backed by malt in the finish. Pine, citrus and maybe even a the slightest bit of tropical fruit , think pineapple. Caramel and a little bit biscuity. Maybe a bit estery as well but held back to a minimum. Balanced well like a pale ale would be but just bigger overall. I found the alcohol to be quite noticeable but not overly so.

M: Moderate mouth feel. Bigger but not cloyingly malty or overly sweet/ thick. Carbonation might be a bit lower but is good.

O: It was good no doubt but passable in comparison to some of the other more interesting brews that DDC offers.

Single bottle obtained from Zyn wine merchants here in Calgary. Poured into a standard shaker pint glass. Color is a light orange-yellow amber with a subdued but very lacy off-white head. Aroma is sweet toffee malt along with fragrant medicinal hops and a Belgian-like fruitiness. Tastes rather unique, with some parallels to other DIPAs but also its own character ... I can see why the term "India" is omitted from the label description. Initial effect on the palate recalls a herbal cough drop, with a decent dose of floral alcohol and molasses. Evolves into something rather piney with a co-occurring bitter tangerine peel note and then finally moves into a fermented apple, woodland berry, and withered apricot fruitiness that lingers on the palate along with some earthy dry leaf. Moderately carbonated but still somehow zippier and lighter bodied than many uber-malty DIPAs. Crisp and dry, really, but manages to convey some big malt, herb, and fruit flavors. Stands out from the crowd and another interesting and enjoyable beer from this Quebec brewery.

Pours amber with a fading head.
Nose shows rich sweet malt with a little piny and resinous hops too. Some bready malt and golden syrup.
Similarly sweet flavours, loads of malt. Some booze and mild hops attempt to balance it out. A bit one-dimensional.
Could use more carbonation.
