Enjoyed on cask at the brewpub. Incredible cask gorgeous head and body from a cask, super lacy. Very smooth mouthfeel. Great drinkability, a concoction of orange and grapefruit. Rye gives it a little edge, edging on drinkability. Will have this again. Fourth out of five very good beers here today.

Draft: Poured a deep brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light spicy rye malt with some citrus hoppy notes is interesting. Taste is also dominated by some citrus notes with some spicy rye malt notes with light grainy finish. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Not sure what it is but I thought this was missing a little bit of punch.

Holy macaroni! That's the craziest head I have seen on a beer ever. It looks like a damn cupcake. No make that a head hat - a 10 gallon one at that. *pulls out the bull whip* Down boy! *whipow* Down I say!!

Pours a dark hair. Ridonkulous head already discussed. Flavor is a nice bitter sweet tone. Interesting grain texture. Feel is smooth on liquid with a fairly nice carbonation. Extremely easy to drink. A nice brew indeed.

Light amber color with the slightest chill haze. Good ring lace and modest head.

Dry aroma of crystal malt and fresh hop. No notable "rye" smells.

Dry flavor (from the rye?); lots hop, but this is not a one sided beer. The complexity comes from the interplay of the lip-smacking lack of sugar and the flowery hop bitterness. Again, this is not extreme offering. However, it is full of subtlety and balance.

On tap at the brewpub, thanks Luc!

Pours a lightly hazy dark reddish orange, some brown in the corners, very thick off white head, coats the glass going down as it settles to a thick ring.

Smell is real nice, sweet and malty, bread, biscuits, nice rye spice, big floral hoppiness, a touch of pepper and some citrus, caramel, more rye, really nice.

Taste is similar, huge malts, caramel, biscuit, toasted bread, lots of rye through the middle, some floral and a bit of citrus, pumpernickel, light fruit, nice spicy finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied but dense and chewy, low to medium carbonation. A superb rye beer, very drinkable, great malt character and perfectly balanced with the hops.

On cask during Cask Days 2013.

Beer is brownish red, with a moderately sized off-white head.

Nose contains rye and citrus fruits.

Taste contains rye and is fairly spicy. Some grassy and citrus fruit-focused hops. Nice. Moderately bitter.

Medium bodied, low natural carbonation.

Overall, quite good. Would like to have this again.

I didn't know this was a rye beer until I checked BA. Has an orange gold color, nice thick head, good retention and lacing.

This beer is a battle between malt and hops. Smells of floral/citric hops and sweet pale malts.

The taste has a great balance of hoppy malty sweetness. There's also some pine, fruits and toasted bread.

This was the special Beer made to commemorate Dieu du ciel's 7th anniversary. I chatted with JF, the brewer about it, he admitted that he hoped people didn't like it too much, because he used an obscene amount of rye to make it, and the mash bed was this gelatinous nightmare that was a bitch to sparge.

Appearance: Dark amber, with a thick, graying head.

Smell: Rye bread, peppery and spicy, but with perhaps a little permed hair in there, but I don't think it was caused by infection, or else I would have picked it up in the taste quickly.

Taste: Whoh, I didn't ask JF the amounts of rye involved, but this one was the most creamy, thick pale ale ever! It coated the tongue, mouth, uvula, oesophagus, etc. It was like kaopectate, but without the chalky taste. It did taste like pumpernickel, a subdued malt and hop profile and a surprisingly light finish.

Quite a surreal Beer experiment!

Had this at the brewpub in Montréal.

A: Pours a dark amber with 1 finger of thick white head into a pint. Leaves gorgeous lacing throughout.

S: Fairly clean smelling with a only a bit of hops showing. A nutty aroma is also appears to be there in the background.

T: Very well-balanced between hops and malt. Slighty spicy character from the rye and again, felt like it had a bit of a nutty character.

M: Med-bodied with a medium carbonation. Very smooth and leaves a bit of drying effect in the mouth once swallowed. Coats the mouth with oily feel.

D: A pint went down well but I don't think I could have 2 back to back. Nothing in particular but it just felt good to stop at one and try something else.

Overall, probably the best rye beer I had to date. Another solid offering from Dieu du ciel.
