I like that this is just classified as an herb/spiced beer because I'm not going into it with any preconcieved notions of what it could be. Saw some ads for this brewery in GLBN. Their artwork is awesome and I'm hoping their beer is too.
First off, this beer looks badass. It's sort of a hazy dark pink/orange. Could use a better head... or maybe it's the glass I'm using. But I really like the color. Very unique. Gets badass points.
Aroma reminds me of Sam Adams Summer Ale with more of a saison/flowery twist.
Taste is extrordinarily flowery and really like a summer ale. What gets me is that the taste sort of sticks to your tongue with a bit of friction like you would expect from a wine. Extrordinarily dry with the spices hovering above the light malt profile. A bit of a witbier yeast taste to the beer.
Very light bodied and high carbonation. I have a bit of a soar throat right now so it's doing me good. The spices are not at all overwhelming and I could see drinking a whole pitcher of this, should the mood strike me.
Maybe it's me but I just really like this brewery. I like their artwork on their bottles because it makes the beer more than a beer to me. It's sort of a self interprative concept. Great stuff.
