Poured from a 341ml bottle, picked up at the Summerhill LCBO as part of the recent DDC release. Beer is listed at 5.5% ABV on the bottle. Bottled June 2010, into a tulip.

Pours a hazy, pale yellow, with a couple fingers of fluffy but thin white head. Settles to a thin and sparse layer. Aroma is a light fruitiness with a touch of banana and lemon, with a bit of spice too. Flavour has a bit of toasted wheat feel to it, with some light fruit coming through. Similar to the smell. Bit of lemon zest tart at the end. Fairly high carbonation, and highly drinkable (and suitable) on such a hot summer afternoon. Ideal for imbibe on a summer afternoon.

341ml bottle served in a Hoegaarden thumbler glass.

A: Pours a hazy pale yellow to beige color forming a big white bubbled white head. Low retention and many spotty lacings left in the glass. A thin layer remains for long time on the top

S: Very spicy in the nose. Quite peppery with strong notes of orange zest, coriander, honey and wheat. Sweet grains. Bready yeasts

T: Slightly sweet grains upfront. Notes of pepper, orange zest, honey, wheat, coriander and white bread. Very smooth and no bitterness. In overall, a light sweet and bready beer

M: Light body. Medium carbonation. Spicy, sweet grains and wheat in the aftertaste

O: Very drinkable. Great Witbier. One more positive point to Dieu du Ciel!

Pours a murky light yellow-orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, yeast, spice, and citrus aromas. Taste is much the same with spice and citrus flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has a fairly intense spice presence in the flavor for the style.
