Malty nose, heavy body, hoppy taste, light bitterness.

Enjoyed from bottle into a stem glass, poured a slightly hazy coppery amber brown, with a decent film and lacing.

S - caramel and hazelnuts, a warm toffee nuttiness, with some fresh apple fruits, crisp yeast firmness to it, pick up some mineral aspects behind the malt.

T - malty, caramel toffee, again a crisp minerality slowly develops leading to a crisp dry finish. A quite drinkable altbier which incorporates quite an interesting journey from sweet caramel through firm floral hoppiness and crisp yeast character.

Mouthfeel has a good carbonation and delicate balance, a bit sticky still on the finish with the caramel which was slight hit on the beer.

Quite a tasty alt and quite drinkable, pronounced yeasty character that coats the palate toward the finish. Perhaps the start could be lightened a bit as the caramel gets a bit heavy, otherwise a flavourful session ale, but far short of my favourite from this brewery, still quite tasty and impressive.

A:
Pours a clear amber with a puffy tan head like beaten egg whites that finally settles from two fingers to a ring around the glass. Okay retention; the lacing consists of little concentric circles of dots around the glass with a looming foam-insulation-looking ring around the top edge of the glass. (3.75)

S:
Sweet woody malt. Pralines, herbs, rubber, black tea, a little astringent, some slightly tart notes as well. Seriously improves if left to warm up a good bit. (4)

T:
Malty and slightly metallic. Nuts, dirty, water from a rusty old can, licorice, medicinal hops at finish. (3.5)

M:
Thin with a coating mouthfeel and a medium finish. The carbonation is nice and prickly and verges on velvet. Real thin though. (3.25)

O:
Pretty tasty Altbier.
LET THIS BEER WARM A BIT! I had had it before and not really liked it, I wasn't sure about it this time either but once it warmed it opened up a whole new world in the nose and taste departments (keeping in mind I still got it out of the fridge 20-30 minutes before pouring it).
Pours okay as far as it goes. The smell and flavor seem really similar with a really dusty brown sugar malt character with some herbal hops. It is pretty thin which isn’t the end of the world, but it could definitely be better palate-wise.
Would have it if offered to me; if you have the chance to choose among their beers, there are better ones, though IMO. (3.5)

A: More cloudy then I expected but it does have the right color of an alt. Brownish ruby color with finger of slightly off white head. Decent lacing an retention.

S: Sweet malts come through. Caramel, toast, along the lines of that.

T: Melanoidinesque flavors definitely come through. Caramel, toasted bread, are most prominent. More hops then the aroma would lead one to believe as well. Fairly bitter and a slight bit of noble hop flavor is detectable.

M: Carbonation, like i feel on all of dieu de ciels beers, is perhaps a touch low for my liking but its well done enough.

O: A good beer overall and i'd love to pair some mexican food with it.

341ml bottle bought from Brewdogs online shop

Poured a nice deep orange brown colour.. Slightly off white head pours thick and foamy then faded slowly to nice thin layer... barely any carbonation... decent amount of sticky lacing...

Aroma - Nice biscuity / toffee malts, juicy fruits (oranges, apples, light raisins), sea salty notes, caramel / honey sweet notes, some light nutmeg / cinnamon traces, maybe the slightest hint of sweetcorn, peppery hops..

Taste– - Strong biscuity malts, caramel / toffee, some creamed corn / grainy notes, light spicy hops, the faintest of smokey traces, earthiness, light nutmeg, some light oakiness...

Feel - Pretty smooth and creamy... medium body... A very drinkable brew

Overall - A very good example of a well balanced Altbier... well worth a try...
