Bottle: Poured a dark black color porter with nice brown foamy head with good retention and some good amount of lacing. Aroma consists of huge amount of roasted malt with quiet a bit of chocolate notes. Taste is also dominated by loads of roasted malt notes with some chocolate notes and light dry finish with some green hops notes. Body is tad thinner then I was expecting with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Loads of flavors with an overall dry taste but avoiding the astringency territory. (503 characters)

Black color with a nice head. Aroma is hoppy with some roastiness. Nice aroma a little in the range of black IPA but not strong enough to be IPA.

Taste is roastiness with a finish all hoppy. Grassy. Delicious and so easy to drink.

A nice beer from DDC!

Cheers. (263 characters)

Tight tw finger head with great lacing. Bit of chicory and earthy hops in the flavor as well as unsweetened chocolate. Body is medium with a lasting bitterness. Glad DDC bottled this. (183 characters)

The body is black everywhere but its edges. Two fingers of whipped, creamy tan head boasts excellent retention. Sheets of lace coat the sides of the glass as it recedes.

Sweet dark chocolate with roasty edges. Its core is rich, made up of pumpernickel and rye. A whiff of leafy hops pull through but it's just as faint as its alcohol character. The nose has depth and packs a punch.

The taste is equally as strong but far less refined. Dry grainy roast becomes quite prominent and is paired with a rigid resinous bitterness. Dark chocolate and cake mix have morphed into its undercurrent. When you look past its green, roasty bitterness, it's sweeter side isn't hard to find.

Medium bodied with a low level of carbonation, allowing its dry roasty quality to really assert itself. The finish is quick but its bitterness lingers well past that point.

Every time I see a new offering from these guys on the shelf, I've got to pick it up. Although this isn't there best, it didn't disappoint. The nose was my favorite aspect with plenty of depth and richness. Its "India" moniker becomes apparent in the taste. I think this would make for an excellent beer to cook with. (1,173 characters)

On-tap during DDC event at Bar Hop

Beer is black with a good-sized tan head. Very good retention, nice lacing.

Perhaps the beer is too cold or the glass is not conducive to scent but I don't get a big aroma. Roasted malt and some coffee.

Taste is very nice. Strong roasted malt flavours, fairly smoky. Some cocoa. Balanced, but on the bitter side. Very strong flavour, bold.

Full bodied, low carbonation level. Very smooth and rich. Nice.

Overall, really nice. Was not familiar with this one and was happily surprised. Really big and nice flavour. An underdog in the DDC catalogue. (587 characters)
