Black color with a nice head. Aroma is hoppy with some roastiness. Nice aroma a little in the range of black IPA but not strong enough to be IPA.

Taste is roastiness with a finish all hoppy. Grassy. Delicious and so easy to drink.

A nice beer from DDC!

On-tap during DDC event at Bar Hop

Beer is black with a good-sized tan head. Very good retention, nice lacing.

Perhaps the beer is too cold or the glass is not conducive to scent but I don't get a big aroma. Roasted malt and some coffee.

Taste is very nice. Strong roasted malt flavours, fairly smoky. Some cocoa. Balanced, but on the bitter side. Very strong flavour, bold.

Full bodied, low carbonation level. Very smooth and rich. Nice.

Overall, really nice. Was not familiar with this one and was happily surprised. Really big and nice flavour. An underdog in the DDC catalogue.

5oz sample at DDC tap takeover at National Beer Hall 24/11/12 from notes

A very dark brown and again in the small sample glasses I get just a thin film but it leaves a few random patches

S raisin, plum and prune, dried dark fruits with with some roast and bakers chocolate and Hershey's syrup

T what I smell but with a large blast of burnt espresso and char, decent but I preferred the smell

M quite gritty like a wine with heavy tannins, good level of carbonation and some burnt toffee on the finish

O OK but considering who brewed it and the other dark monsters I've had from DDC I was expecting a little more

I could drink another but with my other options from DDC I may not anytime soon
