Was there last week while in Montreal on business. I walked from the Hilton Bonaventure, it took 45-50 min walking at a good pace, you would need to be used to walking a fair bit otherwise I would recommend taking a cab or the subway from downtown. I walked up St. Laurent which had the sidewalks torn up for the first number of blocks. One of the shops along the way was having a "no sidewalk sale", cute.
The atmosphere once inside Dieu Du Ciel is pretty much as others have described, relatively small, dimly lit but not too dark that you couldn't read a book or newspaper, with the bar at the back and the fermentation tanks on one side behind glass. Behind the bar were lots of empty bottles from all over the world, everything from Rogue to Rochefort.
I sat at the bar and ordered a Peche Mortel which was outstanding. Also had the cheese plate which included a small loaf of bread that the guy behind the bar heated up in a toaster over, 5 different cheeses, nuts, dried fruit and olives. The cheese plate complemented the beer nicely and I very much enjoyed my private beer and cheese tasting.
Service was good, the 2 guys working there both spoke primarily French but had no trouble understanding my English. I was there on a Tuesday night and the place was about half full. Prices were quite reasonable with a glass of Peche at $4.50. My only complaint is I didn't get a chance to try any of the other beers as I had a 2nd Peche Mortel that was enough for me for the night.
I very much look forward to returning on my next visit to Montreal and sampling a greater variety of their brews. Highly recommended!

Very chill place with a great selection. Went on holiday in Montreal and this was on my checklist. Had a very good margarita pizza and a flight of their IPAs and a glass of péche mortel. Reminds me of a 90s brewpub, but only in a positive way. Highly recommend.

Came here with a friend on my first visit; was flying solo the second time.
Had the following beers over the course of two sessions:
Dieu du Ciel! Solstice d’Été aux Framboises (draft)
Dieu du Ciel! déCIBeL (cask)
Dieu du Ciel! Déesse Nocturne (draft)
Dieu du Ciel! Sentinelle - Kolsch (draft)
Dieu du Ciel! Tonnerre - Azacca Single Hop Pale Ale (draft)
Dieu du Ciel! Libre-échange - Foreign Export Stout (draft)
Dieu du Ciel! El Dorado - Spelt Beer w/ El Dorado Hops (draft)
Dieu du Ciel! Dieu du Ciel! Symbiose No. 01 / 2012 (sample)
The beers ranged from very good to outstanding, and the service was great on both occasions. I also enjoyed the Margherita pizza and mixed green salad. Had an awesome conversation with some beer geeks from Las Vegas and New York City, who were kind enough to share the Symboise with me (thanks again!). Overall, this is a world class brewpub with amazing beer, a really cool atmosphere, and good service and food. Definitely a must-visit when in Montreal.

An amazing place that I always visit when in Montreal. They usually have about 16-18 different beers on tap and rotate many of them quite regularly. The place has a really chill vibe, even when it’s busy. The food is basic but well prepared and satisfying. This is a landmark in the Montreal beer scene.

Top quality stouts, the rest of the beer selection is generally good with rotating taps. The péché mortel is the piece de resistance, delicious in any of its many forms. The nachos are decent and the charcuterie is alright also.

Visited during our recent vacation to Montreal. Nice location in a residential area in north central part of the city. It is a bit smaller than I expected. Bar area is darker wood and pretty typical of a nice pub. The service is great! very attentive servers. We ate lunch while there. Pub type food, a small but very tasty selection. The beer selection was great, as was the quality. It was so good my wife wanted to go back a second time while we were there, so we did!

One of the best (if not THE best) bar/brewery in Montreal. The bar is fairly large in size but was completely packed on a Sunday night. ~17-18 beers on tap, with wine/cocktail options as well. The beer selections are diverse, ranging from traditional styles to experimental beers (such as a black saison). Beers are sold at a fixed price based on size, and prices are more than fair. Didn't have a chance to try the food, but the menu did look very promising.
A must visit for craft beer fans in or visiting Montreal!

Incredible beer destination in Montreal, perfect while visiting Jazz Festival, loves all the beers we had plus the excellent food. Sat outside in July at the large tables, had fun chatting with the other patrons!

Great neighborhood brewpub! Peche Mortel on tap - need I say more! Had the cheeseboard and flatbread pizza, awesome! at least 14 different beers on tap, all brewed by them. A must if you are a beery visiting Montreal. A little off the beaten tract, but don't let that scare you. Find it and go there. It's a great friendly place.

Reminds me a bit of a European cafe; very chill vibe. Good selection and some cool stuff you can't find in the US on tap. Didn't eat the food but looked good, beers were great. The place to go when in Montreal.

Along with Vices & Versa (which is just a 20 minute walk away) and Station HO.ST, le Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel (brewery of the sky god) is one of my favorite places in Montréal. I could skip the other two, but any trip to Montréal for me requires a visit.
The beer cannot be argued with (look at the reviews!), and it's on tap (although they do offer some bottles). And they offer food, which can be rare. It's just smaller plate stuff (sandwiches, pizzas, and snacks), and slightly pricey, but it's good and I think it's worth it for the quality. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is great - it's kind of like a small English-style pub, but with a very Canadian vibe. And it's great to sit out on the street, or in a window on the street, and just relax with a beer and watch traffic go by. (Ha ha suckers!!! You could be here but you're not!)
I haven't given them a good enough review here, what I've written isn't worthy, and I'll need to return to this and update it - hopefully after my next visit - but for now you've got a sense of my passion for the place, don't let it go to waste.
