Deceptively tiny, one of those places that seem really big when you first go into it but that's only because there's so many people there. When it was busy, getting to the bar took a while. When it was dead, of course, it was easy. Only it vacillated between dead and busy at the drop of a hat so it took much strategizing to make sure your available beer supply kept pace with the problematic amount you wished to drink.
The decor woody and old and gorgeous, like nearly everywhere else in Montreal. The stereotype about Canadians being friendlier and kinder than American is absolutely, 100% true, so even during its busy periods the place felt more warm than it did oppressive.
Beer selection was fabulous, with fresh selections of the all of Du Ciel's mainstays along with some slightly weirder stuff (a tangerine IPA) and some truly fucking bizarre, "wow I have to try this even though it sounds awful" stuff (an absinthe IPA).
An absolute must-visit if you're in the city.

The beer is incredible (focus on the dark beers and specials). The staff is also pretty entertaining, a bunch of attractive francophone chattering with each other. Can't comment on the food, but the beer is great. Probably about awesome place to take a girl or business important person.

Absolutely awesome. I went on a Tuesday and the place was packed. The atmosphere was really nice and jovial. The people are an eclectic mix, young and old, male and female. I had a nice mix of their hop attempts, nothing to rave about, but all solid beers. I also had a hibiscus beer, that was neon pink...I am comfortable with my masculinity so the color didn't turn me off...try it!
