On tap at L'amerie a boire, Montreal.

Poured a deep black hue with amber edges and a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured sweet malts and burnt grain.

The taste consisted of a burnt grain, cocoa, smoke and a touch of caramel.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a tasty porter that could benefit from a bit mor roasted malt character.

Good start on the head with good lace. Solid brown color where some light manages to pass through the edge of the glass.

Difficult to detect--slight mocha aroma

Chocolatey flavor with a light dry hop at the finish. The body is above average with a nice richness enhancing the flavor. Overall, this is a mild porter which prevents it from being great.

Very dark pour with hints of ruby and an off-white head. Wet coffee grain aroma, with a touch of sharpness from hopping. Caramel malt jiving with roasted malts in the aroma, with an interesting contribution from floral hops. The alcohol is a little too apparent in the flavour for my liking (despite the fact that it only weighs in at 5%). Bizarre - it felt more Baltic than anything. The mouthfeel is medium-light and easy to drink.

Danish yeast, acidic aroma, more bitter taste than the boucanier on cask. Carmel prominent. Easy to drink with lower alcohol, a plus. A good effort but not holding the candle to the real Nordic porters. Thin-medium mouthfeel. A shwartzbier is what the brewery told me it's really like and by expecting that I enjoyed it more. Good colour.

Dark, chestnut brown colour, quite clear, with ruby/brown highlights and a fluffy tan head. Floral and spicy hops that seemed very green in the aroma with some acidic maltiness. This worked quite well, actually. The flavour was mostly sweet malt with the same light hop character. Some roasted and chocolate malt added depth, and there was some acidic crispness towards the moderately dry finish. Slightly slick with a medium body and decent texture. Overall, a decent beer. Not too heavy with some interesting aromas and flavours.
