Beautiful, old pub in the tiny village of Puttenham. Situated beneath Surrey's famous Hogsback about a mile off the A31 between Guildford and Farnham, just off the B3000.
Old Stone abounds on the narrow street where this pub is located. Upon entry there is a center bar area with room for maybe 8 and on either side of the bar is a smallish room of tables for dining and conversing. Out a back hallway behind the bar is the restrooms and the door leading to the beautiful garden. 8-10 picnic tables out there to enjoy the sunny English countryside (when it is sunny). Families and bicyclists seem to use the place as a stopping point. Friendly village pub atmosphere with kind and attentive service. Food is basic but excellent standard pub fare with some minor twists on the theme.
Beer selection is limited to 3-4 casks and some ubiquitus lager selections but the quality makes up for the relatively small collection. Generally Southern England breweries make up most of the selections at this pub.
If you find yourself driving across the A-31 and are in need of a quikc bit of refreshment this is an excellent stop.
