Appearance: Flat white wine. Disappointing.

Smell: Lots of wine grapes and yeast. Nice rustic Belgian qualities.

Taste/Mouthfeel: More wine and yeast. A heavy note of oak in the background. Quite sour, which I also really like. Very clean mouthfeel, but almost too clean. Thin for a Belgian.

Overall Drinkability: A good but not great Belgian.

On-tap 2/26/2014 at Track 84, in Warwick, RI served in a goblet glass.

A: The beer is a light yellow color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains rice light malts, wheat, some spice and some alcohol.

T: The taste starts out with bready flavors of wheat, Belgian yeast and rice along with some spices. The malt character is thin and there isn’t much of a hops presence to balance out the high ABV. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Watery and a little smooth, light body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Not very tasty, does not go down easily, not too filling, strong kick, good hybrid of style but it’s not a good beer.

Tried this on tap at the GI Clybourn location. Served in a cervoise stemmed glass. Nice pale color, very little head. Sake influence is not at all overpowering and imparts a nice dryness to this beer. Overall light and well balanced, especially for a 10% brew.

Had the pleasure of trying this at the release party at Fountainhead.

A: All beer is beautiful and gets a 5. Tough to tell the color in the dimly lit restaurant but I'd say golden with real good clarity. Head seemed to vary from pour to pour but mine had a decent 1 finger with average retention and no lacing.

S: very fruity, surprisingly fruity even. I did not know what to expect from a Sake beer, but I got a whole lot of abbey ale smells. Some peaches, apples, even bananas in the nose.

T: This is supposed to be based on a Saison and that is the predominant flavor profile, but it wouldn't be a stretch to call this beer an abbey style dubbel, just from the flavor. Again, lots of bright fruits, lots of sweetness. It does not come off as boozey at all, and I'm shocked that this is 10%

M: mostly typical saison mouthfeel; good deal of carbonation, light, drinkable. But unlike most saisons, it doesn't finish dry

O: I'm happy with this, probably won't be around for long so make sure to take the opportunity to try this one.

Had on tap at Brixies in Brookfield

Not going to do the usual ASTMO review. Tasted like sake, dry, sweet, almost grapefruit flavor. Then the saison yeast took over estery and good. I enjoyed it in fact had three that night caught a solid buzz too. It’s 10% after all.
