Poured a murky dark copper. Very slight reddish tan head.
Smells like cherry cordials, vanilla, whisky, and oak.
Incredible depth of flavor. Tastes ranging from chocolate covered bourbon soaked cherries, to raisins, figs, dates, vanilla, coffee, molasses, caramel, and smokey oak. Alcohol is present, but well hidden for it's high abv.
Very light carbonation. Silky smooth and slick mouthfeel.
Overall an amazing brew to have from a growler. Almost overwhelming in it's complexity. In a good way.

Another outstanding brew from Goose Island. What it lacks in appearance it makes up for in taste, twofold. Barleywines, nowadays, seem to lack that barley presence in favor of the coffee/chocolate tastes. This is not one of those. The head lacing are virtually nonexistent. So what? If you have no fear of the dark you will feel right at home here.
