A - The color is a mix of medium brown, caramel and warm chestnut with some slight reddish hue... There is a slight light khaki colored head and collar which shows limited retention and quickly fades away... Light carbonation...
S - The nose is slightly subdue, but the aroma really starts to open up a little bit and display more depth and complexity as it warms a tiny bit... An undeniable malt bomb... Caramel... Toffee... Brown sugar... Uncooked brownie batter... Sweet dark fruits....
T - Sweet, but never cloying... Loads of caramel... Toffee... Brown sugar... Hints of vanilla... There are some slightly sweet dark fruit notes that linger beneath the surface... Raisins... Fig... Plum... Lots of depth and complexity...
M - Medium bodied... Exceedingly smooth... A rich velvety texture... Very sleek... Incredible balance and consistency... Regal... Delectable... Limited carbonation...
D - A beer that is surprisingly tame (and I mean this in a very good way) given it's high ABV and bourbon barrel aging... Near perfect in all facets... A bit more impressive appearance and a bit more of potent nose could make this a "perfect 5" across the board... I can't recommend highly enough as a limited release, English Barleywine, or bourbon barrel aged offering... I have a hard time believing that any self respecting BA could find fault with this offering...

Surprisingly on tap at San Diego Brewing Co, poured into an 8 oz goblet
A: Cola-like color, no head and viscous.
S: Booze and toffee are the prominent aromas. Notes of coconut, nutmeg, oak and cherry as we'll. Strong bouquet carried by ample alcohol volatiles.
T: Flavors follow but notes of vanilla are right at the front. Also picking up notes of tobacco and ripe fruit. Finishes long and sweet with lots residue between sips...in a good way.
M: chewy, sticky, yummy
