The coconut is gone, but the base beer is still amazing. In terms of flavor, take the best vintages of BCBS (2012-2013) with a slight bump in sweetness and you have what this beer is now.

So right away this beer was consumed that rare Kentucky Derby in September 2020. So yes, it was 7 years old when I drank it. Was in my cellar since about '15 methinks.
Pours brown, black. Makes a thin, 1/5" light brown head. I didn't think the carbonation was much different than younger BCS, but it just looked more thin. The aroma was lightly bourbon. There is a hint of the darken oak, but at 7 years old, this one wasn't pushing the coconut and that is fine.
The taste was pretty much regular BCS at this point, which is almost never a bad thing. The usual roasted malt, alcohol warmth, old wet oak, light bourbon, light sweetness, light wooden char going on. Carbonation was fine even though the appearance looked like there was just a whisp of it going on. If you really searched for it, you could get a hint of the toasted coconut, it was lightly oily. I thought it would have been sweeter than this. I doubt I could differentiate between this and a 7 year old BCS. Enjoyable experiment in cellar aging.

APPEARANCE: Dark as a corn field in rural Nebraska on a moonless night. Pouring too much of this may be how black holes are formed. A thin (albeit thicker than expected) head of light brown, homogenous bubbles flared up for about 5 seconds when first poured then it settled into a super thin ring around the edge of the glass.
SMELL: Brandy and vanilla on the nose. Not particularly strong in this department, but hope of a big, aggressive flavor is not lost.
TASTE: Nope. Not lost at all. This is intense! A marshmallow-y vanilla leads the charge here with chocolate and Brandy notes not far behind. The rye flavor seems to have mellowed, although, I never had this fresh from the barrel, so I'm not 100% sure on that. Roasted malt flavor is a little muted, but does provide a nice bittering balance. A touch of spice is still there however, along with some oak. Still intense.
MOUTHFEEL: Creamy is the first word that comes to mind. It is certainly sweet, but very nicely balanced with that roasty bitterness mentioned above. Of course, huge body on this one, very viscous - looks like motor oil and feels like motor oil. Exactly what a gigantic, imperial, barrel-aged stout should be.
OVERALL: Still really tasting fantastic even though we let this age longer than we should have. I have to imagine that at 3-4 years this beast would have still been in it's prime, but I am very satisfied with it now. If you've still got one, drink it soon and enjoy. Outstanding beer.

Bottled 11/19/13; drank 11/19/15 @ Village Tap.
Black appearance.
Almost no khaki head; no lace.
Marshmallow, milk chocolate & brandy notes in the nose.
Thick mouthfeel.
Marshmallow, vanilla & milk chocolate flavors up front; brandy notes on the finish.
The coconut has faded, to my delight; this tasty dessert sipper is holding up very well.

Bottle aged 5 years. Pours black with essentially no head. Aroma of coconut, chocolate, toffee, whiskey. Thick chewy and sweet. Flavor of caramel, toffee, molasses, coconut, cocoa, a very slight rye whiskey bite. Exceptional beer. Worth the hype.

Still a ton of bourbon in the nose and a ton of bourbon and everything else in the taste. This must’ve been a hot beast in 2013.

Had on tap. Best BCBS variant I have had in a while. The coconut really came through on the taste, where the rye more on the smell. Overall though the flavors just beautifully melded together, molasses, chocolate, rye, coconut, bourbon, wood, and sugared dark fruit, to create an unforgettable beer experience! Typical bcbs appearance and feel with enhanced rye textures
