Consumed 4/16/14

Appearance: Clear copper - some orange highlights - pours with an average-sized, off-white head, keeps a small cap, leaves some nice streaks of lacing

Smell: Pale and light amber malts with a somewhat strange hop profile - the combination of Cascade and Saaz hops is interesting - some orange and grapefruit flesh and zest, as well as some herbal, spicy hop aromas - vaguely leafy - above-average malt sweetness for an APA, with some caramel, some sweet biscuits, and a touch of mint

Taste: At the very least, it's interesting - orange and grapefruit flesh with some zest and pith combined with some herbal, spicy, leafy, minty hops - pale and caramel malts, with some biscuit and toast flavors - a lot of sweetness, with malty sweetness and a honey-like sweetness - finishes a little sweet as well

Mouthfeel: On the light side of medium, smooth, with some nice carbonation, could finish a little cleaner

Overall: No need to run to the hills

I'm not sure how I first heard about this beer, but I was intrigued by the story of the hops involved in this beer. The result is, indeed interesting. But it's not very special beyond that. Worth a try (despite being only brewed once, it's still around).

Bottle from Ayotte's
Pours a crystal clear deep amber color with a huge frothy off white head that persists forever leaving stickies all over the sides of the glass. Aromas of caramel, earth, pine and sulfur. The flavor is sweet rich caramel and toffee with just enough earthy pine to provide a break in the sweetness. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet creamy bubbly mouthfeel. English inspired brew, easy to drink, but not really my cup of tea.

Pours amber/honey colored with thick foamy head that persists through drinking. Excellent lacing on sides of glass. Citrus aroma with hints of apple and pine. Very hop forward taste that persists through drinking. The taste is very piney, but you can discern some citrus qualities. Overall a good beer. Not the best APA I have had, but is definitely one I would drink again.

Working through some reviews that I forgot to post. Served into my SA perfect pint, the beer is a bright copper/bronze with a dense and sticky tan head.

Nose of pine, lightly toasted malts and spice.

This one is right in the wheelhouse for an APA. Mid-range pine based bitterness well balanced with caramel malts. There is a bit of spice and tobacco and some red apple notes late. This one will keep you engaged as it has some facets that revel themselves through the glass.

Mouth is semi-thick and a bit slick. It is a bit too much ABV to session, but it is easy to throw back several. I would like to see this one as a full time offering.
