This is for both the 2011 and 2012 vintage. Although different enough to consider them separate beers they both are good and have the same merits. Servers a very dark black colour, with a bit head. in the 2011 vintage the bourbon influence can be noticed as you pour. A bit of a dark head but not much.
As indicated the 2011 vintage does have a strong Bourbon flavor to it. The 2012 however reminded me more of a very good port wine. I don't know if they changed the barrels this was conditioned in and that explains the change. I like port more than bourbon so the 2012 wins out just because of that.
This is a beer that almost has to be sipped, preferably while relaxing by a fireplace on a cold winter night.
