A - pours a thick oily black. The condensation on the glass gives it a slate look. Reminiscent of black top. Bubbly, fizzy deep tan foam, roughly a fingers worth rises up and then quickly dissolves.
S - the nose is decadent. Notes of warm gooey caramel and vanilla jump out. Toasted coconut shells, sandalwood, and peppery/alcohol notes round out the intense flavors. Classic stout characteristics lay underneath. French roast coffee, bakers chocolate and hints of dark dried fruits.
T - toasty, roasty and chocolate flavors collide on the front of the tongue. The chocolate flavors shine through momentarily until the bourbon-y, peppery heat comes out mid-palate. Intense flavors of caramel, wood, and vanilla all fight for attention. Hints of juicy dark fruits as well. Backend is more caramel, molasses, pepper and bourbon. Finish is surprisingly soft and sweet with a lingering boozey flavor.
M - milkshake thick. Creamy texture and full bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Just enough to keep this incredibly viscous liquid from becoming cloying.
O - one of the best barrel aged stouts money can buy.
