12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.
A - Half-finger head is coffee and cream color, quickly fades to nothing and leaves no lacing. Pour is as about as close to pitch-black as they come, impervious to light.
S - Dark malts and chocolate, hints of caramel, blackberries, coffee. Alcohol is present but hides pretty well amongst the other odorants. Smells a lot like the berry-flavored chocolate you might find in a box of chocolates.
T - Dark, toasty malts. Chocolate through and through with hints of caramel, brown sugar, and a fair amount of coffee. Aftertaste is chocolate and mocha. Very complex with the alcohol providing a bit of a bite, but not overpowering.
M - Creamy and just heavy enough. Lingers in the mouth even after you've downed the hatch.
D - A heavy brew to be sure, best to take it slow. Overall one, if not the, best stout I've tried.
