12oz single picked up on a trip to Denmark. Poured into a snifter. 2012 version (looks to have a drink by date of 08.10.13?)
A: Pours thick and viscous with very little foam; looks heavy; opaque black; no lace, as expected at 15%.
S: Indulgent aroma... black strap molasses; roasted malt; pie crust; bourbon barrel ooze... syrupy vanilla. Wife says it smells of soy sauce.
T: Charred malt; sticky bourbon sweetness / light oaky vanilla; molasses and dark fruit; dark chocolate; a touch of smoked malt, too. Wow.
M: Full; moderate carbonation; quite sticky on the palate; a sweet, big beer for sure.
O: An unbelievably smooth barrel aged imperial stout (especially at 15%!); very sweet - more so that expected - perhaps because of age. Quite a belly warmer and way tasty!
