Cloudy apricot hue is crowned by a light off-white film. Big barleywine-like aroma with plenty of rich sweet malt backings to accompany the time mellowed various hops. Oldish apricot fruitiness is bathing in a maple sauce, oldish and not without madeira undertones. Well developed aging, displaying an excellent balance right now. The hops are mild, highly herbal and give an old english feel in their floral soapiness. The malt is chewy, almost smoky, port-like in its strong fruitiness. Oily texture, light carbonation. Splendid specimen which must have close to a year an a half I believe. Atypical and one of my favorites. Worth another round of thanks to my buddy Jeppe.

On-tap at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn, NY
A: The beer is relatively clear yellowish amber in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head that died down, leaving lacing on the surface and sides of the glass and a collar around the edge.
S: Moderate aromas of caramel malts and floral and citrusy hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that there are a little more flavors of caramel malts and a light to medium amount of bitterness. Only a slight amount of alcohol is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This Imperial IPA ages pretty incredibly as you can still smell and taste some of the hops after a decade. While the aging has rendered it closer to a barleywine, you can still get some of the hops in the smell and taste.
Note: Aged approximately 10 years.
