Poured from a 650ml bottle into a goblet, served at cellar temp. Bottled on date is 05/16/12.

Brilliantly clear Mahogany shade of amber with little sign of carbonation supports a thick khaki head that leaves virtually no lacing.

Aroma of caramel, prunes & raisins, with a faint whiff of vanilla.

Mouthfeel soft, creamy, silky.

taste: cloves, spices, rum soaked raisins and vanilla with some sherry flavors. a little boozy and hot at the end with a touch of woodiness at the end. I am drinking a 2012 late in 2013 and it is magnificient.

I love this beer. Really love this beer.

A: This poured a nearly opaque light mahogany with a little light tan head.
S: It smelled like nutty toffee and earthy copper, with some spicy Belgian yeast and honey wheat bread.
T: It tasted like nutty toffee and honey wheat bread, with some spicy Belgian yeast and earthy copper. It had a clean earthy aftertaste with a little alcohol warming.
M: It was oily with moderate carbonation. Decent body.
D: This was a nice BSDA, with enjoyable scent and taste and decent body. The finish was smooth, although it was a bit hot, so it was easier to sip. Nothing amazing about this beer, but a fairly solid brew. Age would likely really help.

May 2013 bottle poured into a tulip.

It has a reddish-brown iced tea color with a two finger white head that settles quickly. Sweet, clean malts show up on the nose with some green apple skin, toast, and some low peppery notes. It has a sweet, malt-forward flavor with raisins, figs, fresh bread, slight yeast, and slight clove spiciness. It has no bitterness but is not overly sweet, either. Goes down smooth with a medium body and low carbonation. The nicest dubbel brewed in the U.S. that I've had yet.
