12oz bottle thanks to Jlindros. Bottled on 2/01/2010. THANK YOU Goose Island for putting a legible bottled on date.

A. Pours a cloudy pale straw with minimal head (for a wheat beer) into my Sam Adams pint. Clearly unfiltered as advertised. I feel like there should be more head. No lace, but lots of bubbles.

S. Faint amounts of yeasty dough and grain with a stab of lemon. Very light, you have to strain to get much of anything.

T. Surprisingly nondescript, especially for Goose Island (a brewery I respect.) Very bland, rather grainy seltzer water with a hint of lemon. Just a wisp of actual wheat, a tad of bread dough and touch of honey. Extremely light - to be brutally honest, Bud Light Golden Wheat is better than this. I'm not sure what Goose Island was going for, but this is terribly underwhelming. No "off" flavors, really, just very little flavor to begin with.

M / D. Spritzy, light, thin. Easy to drink, but why would you want to? I'm disappointed - light American Wheat beers don't HAVE to be this characterless. See: Gumballhead, Oberon, heck, even Harpoon UFO.

The bottom line is, there is really little reason to reach for 312 Urban Wheat when so many superior wheat beers are out there. Maybe I got a weird bottle... maybe not. Tough to recommend unless you're craving the lightest of the light craft wheat beers.

I'm a bit surprised at some of the earlier reviews for this beer. I don't know if it has been revised at some point but a lot of the descriptions don't seem to match the batch I'm drinking.

The appearance for starters, is a deep copper color. On the pour there's a full but fleeting head for this style. The smell is pleasant with strong notes of hops and citrus fruit.

The taste is excellent. Light as you would expect from a wheat beer, with greater depth from the malt, hops, and citrus. It comes just to the line of crossing over into being too "hoppy". I'm definitely a fan of this brewery now, having tried a few of their other offerings and this beer in particular. I know a beer is good when I'm surprised out how quickly I'm emptying a glass.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Weizen glass.

A: Light hazy straw. Plenty of active carbonation some sticking to the glass and some rising in pillars. Nice frothy white two finger head. A little lacing - small spots. Good head retention.

S: Wheat of course. Quite fresh like cut straw. A hint of lemon. Very subtle nose in general.

T: Nice and clean as you would expect but I felt like the wheat taste was lacking. It should be light to drink on a warm summer day but at times it was watery. For me, the finish and aftertaste were the most lacking. The hop is very subtle and it is missing that nice thirst quenching wheat ending that brings you back for more. There is a touch of lemon and maybe a hint of coriander or some sweet spice but all in all, it's too weak.

M: Light body which is made to feel lighter because of the watery taste. Plenty of active carbonation as expected.

D: I like a Wheat beer once in a while but this would not be a go-to.

The Chicago skyline appears on the label and the name of the beer really make this American wheat feel like a regional offering. I like it.

The appearance was appropriate for the style, bright golden yellow color, with a solid white head and just a hint of cloudiness from the yeast. I swirled the last bit and dumped the sediment into the glass to get the full effect. It left a nice lace on the weizen glass.

The aroma was very pleasant, but the taste is where this beer shines. Bold lemon flavors abound. No trace of banana esters to me. Just a faint hint of hops.

This beer is very tasty and extremely drinkable. I will definitely pick up more of this during the summer.

Cloudy, bright pale yellow pour with a nice bubbly white head on top. Nice rising carbonation in my tall glass. Good sweet grainy nose along with hints of lemon and orange. Just a hint of spiciness as well. Not too bad.

A clean, crisp wheat grain maltiness along with some citric flavors of lemon, orange and even some ripe melon. A slight hop bitterness follows down the back of the palate along with a hint of spice. A nice example of a normally uninspiring style.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice wave of small bubbly carbonation that fills the mouth. Refreshing and easy to drink...this would make a great summer session brew. I could see myself having quite a few of these on a sunny day working in the yard. Definetly worth a try.
