Single bottle (bottled on 03/24/10) poured into a shaker pint.
Appearance: Black on the table with a thin tan foam across the top. There was persistent lacing as I drank it down. Held up to the light its a very dark garnet red with bubbles moving up slowly through the beer.
Smell: Strong roasted malt smell with some sweeter molasses notes at the end.
Taste: Not bad - roasted malts dominate along with some hops in the middle and a bitter finish. Some coffee-like aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Plenty of carbonation and definitely thick, but not as smooth and creamy as I've had in other oatmeal stouts. Nothing special.
Drinkability: Not too bad (and thank goodness better than the last Goose Island I had which had to be an off bottle). It went well with a meal (breaded Tilapia and fries - the American version of Fish and Chips) and nice after the meal too. All around good, but I don't see myself having more than one per evening or meal.
